Two parents were arrested and one father hospitalized after a violent brawl broke out at a youth softball game in Texas over the weekend.
The wild altercation was caught on camera and posted on social media, appearing to show several people involved and a man lying unconscious on the ground during a game between two 12-year-old select girls softball teams in Sugar Land, Texas, on Saturday.
How did the fight start?
According to charging documents obtained by local ABC affiliate KTRK, Kiarious Marshun Hall and his wife Jazmine Hall were attending their daughter’s game when a dispute began involving other parents.
Investigators said that Hall’s behaviour during the opposing team’s at-bats caused an argument with another parent, who said that he “couldn’t cheer before the players pitched the ball.”
Video of the incident posted on X by user @Nibiru1000 showed the Halls and two other men speaking near a fence before Kiarious took a wild swing at the unnamed father, appearing to hit him in the face with a metal water bottle.
WARNING: Graphic violence
The unnamed man is seen appearing to lie unconscious on the ground and holding the fencing response — an involuntary, immediate reaction to a traumatic brain injury where a person extends their arm straight and flexes the other upward.
Hall is also seen fighting with Gary Greaser, the grandfather of a player, with the two crashing to the ground before Jazmine appears to join in.
Investigators said that Hall claims he acted in self-defence after the men had “elbowed and poked his chest,” though the alleged actions were not seen in the video.
What injuries were suffered by those involved?
The father who was seen lying unconscious was transported to a nearby hospital and, according to his attorney, suffered a broken jaw, a fractured skull and three brain bleeds.
Greaser reportedly suffered a broken hip and required seven stitches to his chin while also sustaining extensive scrapes.
“It’s medieval times like we’re going to smash each other in the head with something,” Greaser told the outlet, adding that he was attempting to “disarm” Hall after the first man was struck.
Greaser also said that Hall simply “flipped” when confronted over his overzealous cheering.
“We’re saying, ‘Hey, why are you getting loud?’ It’s bad sportsmanship to do it right as the pitch comes up when our girls are batting, and that’s all it took. He just flipped and said, ‘I can do whatever I want; I can say whatever I want. And you can’t stop me,'” Greaser said.
What charges have been filed?
Both Kiarious Hall and Jazmine Hall were arrested by Sugar Land police after the incident, with court records showing the former was charged with assault causing bodily injury and both were booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.
Jazmine Hall also resigned from her position as assistant principal at a local junior high school.
The school board, Lamar CISD, issued a statement regarding the incident.
“Lamar CISD is aware of the incident involving a Lamar Junior High School employee,” the statement said. “The employee voluntarily reported the incident to the district’s human resources department over the weekend.
“The employee resigned from her position with Lamar CISD effective Monday, October 26, 2026.”
