The Blue Jays weren’t the only unwanted visitors causing issues during their series against the Angels in Anaheim last week.
During Toronto’s three-game series in California – during which it won two of the three games – a section of Angel Stadium was forced to be shut down after a rodent infestation was found, according to a report by health officials.
According to a report obtained by the California Post on Monday, a concession area in section 432 of the stadium was closed during the game between the Angels and Jays on April 22 following the discovery of “rodent droppings.”
The report by the Orange County Public Health Services said that a routine inspection revealed vermin excrement in five different locations in the area. Among the locations the droppings were found included underneath storage racks, next to “boxes of single use articles,” and near the janitorial sink.
Inspectors allegedly also found “a hole greater than 1/4 inch on the ceiling” that could provide vermin access to the space.
The concession stand’s permit to operate was suspended, with officials ordering it to “eliminate all rodent activity using approved pest control methods,” “clean and sanitize all equipment surfaces, food containers, shelves and floors” and “properly eliminate/seal all cracks and crevices greater than 1/4 inch to prevent vermin harborage.”
The report noted that the closure will be ongoing “until all conditions warranting the closure are corrected.”
What did the team say about the closure?
In a statement to The Post, the team said that it takes “great pride in delivering a high-quality fan experience at Angel Stadium, including maintaining the cleanliness of our nearly 160 concession locations.”
It also added that “after receiving guidance from the health department, we acted promptly with our concession partner to resolve the issue at the single stand and expect it to pass inspection and reopen in time for the upcoming homestand.”
The outlet reports that records show the section had previously passed inspection on June 25, 2025.
Has this happened before?
This isn’t the first time that Angel Stadium has been told to clean up its act – specifically when it comes to vermin.
The Orange County Register reported in 2007 that county officials had found 118 vermin violations at Angel Stadium restaurants and kiosks in the previous two years.
At the time, the team vowed to change its cleaning policy and the stadium later found the problem had been completely resolved in 2009.
