With Phil Rivers’ record in December and the Niners are rolling out Alex Smith, it’s hard to take San Fran seriously. Rivers has gotten it done all season long, no matter who he has been throwing to and the Chargers defence is at the top of the league.

A real question for the Chargers right now is Antonio Gates’ health. He wasn’t well enough to play on Sunday and could you really blame him if he sits a mere four days later? I’d make other plans at TE if he’s on your fantasy team.

The one advantage that the Niners do have is that they’re not travelling too far for this Thursday night affair. Most teams have had to cross time zones or fly a thousand miles on a short week. So, at least they have that going for them.
