Paul Bissonnette had some fighting words on social media on Thursday after being called out over his stance on transgender rights.
The former enforcer turned NHL commentator has been known to share some hot takes and colourful stories as part of TNT’s broadcast team and on his popular Spittin’ Chiclets podcast, but the man known as ‘Biz Nasty’ really dialled things up in a reply to X user @s_cowles.
The user, who goes by screen name SC and identifies as She/Her, was replying to a throwback post from Outsports as part of the outlet’s ‘That Time When’ series. The link was to a story about Bissonnette dropping his ties to a clothing company after it posted a transphobic tweet about Penguins star Sidney Crosby.
“Biz would never be so principled these days,” SC wrote.
WARNING: Vulgar language
This apparently caught Bissonnette’s attention — despite the fact that he wasn’t tagged in the post — and the six-year NHL vet simply replied “F*** you.”
SC then questioned if Bissonnette still felt the same way about transgender rights, 10 years after the original incident, writing: “So you do still support trans rights that loudly now, in 2026?? I’m delighted to hear it.”
What did Biz say about trans rights?
This was enough to apparently set off the former Phoenix Coyotes forward, who went on a vulgar rant diatribe in support of his transgender people.
“If you’re a man and you want to chop your c*** off and be a woman, I simply do not care. If you’re a woman and want to grow a c***, by all means, have it. Go be whatever the f*** you want,” he wrote.
“I support your right to do whatever it is you want with your body. It’s none of my business. I don’t care.”
However, he apparently wasn’t too happy about being called out over the situation.
“Why are you coming at me about this?” he continued. “Do you understand how crazy you come off just messaging me about this random s***? Go do something productive.”
Bissonnette’s post has racked up more than 5 million views since Thursday morning and over 38,000 likes on X.
SC has not replied to Bissonnette’s comments.
What was the Biz-Crosby story about?
The original incident involving Bissonnette and the subject of transgender people dates back to 2016.
Bissonnette took aim at transphobia by cutting ties with Sauce Hockey, a “hockey lifestyle clothing” company, after it shared a post referring to Crosby – a former teammate of Biz – as transgender and trying to get into a locker room.
In response, Bissonnette posted a screenshot of a statement written in his Notes app distancing himself from the company and supporting the LGBT community.
Sauce Hockey then deleted the original post and apologized, writing, “We agree 100% with (Bissonnette’s) sentiments.
“The re-posted tweet was in extremely poor judgement and apologize to anyone who was offended.”
