Tyreek Hill’s potential return remains up in the air after he was found liable on two counts of battery in his civil domestic violence case involving his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro Hill.
Hill, who was released by the Miami Dolphins earlier this year, was also found not liable by the six-person jury on eight other counts, while another one had been removed by a judge earlier on Tuesday.
The star wide receiver has been ordered to pay Vaccaro Hill — who had alleged multiple instances of physical and verbal abuse — $500,000 US, though she had been seeking a total of $8 million in punitive damages to “restore her dignity.”
When the ruling was announced, Hill hugged his attorney Christi Bright, who later said the one-time Super Bowl champion was happy with the result.
“Mr. Hill was very pleased that he was able to get his story out and to be able to tell the world what he’s not been able to speak about,” Bright said, per ESPN. “He’s very grateful.”
What allegations were made against Tyreek Hill?
During the trial, Vaccaro Hill alleged that Hill had tried to punch her in the stomach when she was pregnant in the summer of 2024.
“The first time he struck at my stomach and punched it and I saved myself,” Lakeeta said. “He was like, ‘I don’t want the baby.’”
Their daughter, Capri, was born months later in November.
Hill was later found not liable on that count and had denied all claims of physical harm during the case.
Will Tyreek Hill return to play in the NFL?
A potential return to the field for Hill is complicated by several factors.
It remains unclear if he has fully recovered from a gruesome leg injury suffered during the 2025 season with the Dolphins.
An NFL spokesperson told ESPN last week that Vaccaro’s allegations against Hill remain “under review of the personal conduct policy,” and that the league is “monitoring developments in the matter.”
While Hill currently remains unsigned, his agent Drew Rosenhaus has stated that the situation is “fluid” and that “a deal could happen any time.”
Rosenhaus also said last week that several teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, have reached out regarding the 32-year-old wide receiver.
Hill spent his first six seasons with the Chiefs and was named a first-team NFL All-Pro in three of them.
He has amassed 11,363 receiving yards and 83 touchdowns over his 10-year career and was considered one of the fastest players in the league before his injury.
