Retirement seems to be suiting former Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard rather well.
After serving as an analyst for BBC Sport during Wimbledon, she has now jetted off for a vacation on the beautiful shores of Lake Como in Italy — and she’s not alone, either.
Bouchard was spotted taking a stroll in town, walking hand-in-hand with OpenAI boss Ian Hathaway.
Fans and followers of Bouchard likely would notice that she was wearing the same white dress that she had showed off during Wimbledon — which social media instantly fell in love with. Genie also topped things off by tying a light patterned scarf around her head.
Hathaway kept things relatively simple, wearing a white T-shirt with baggy, brown pants for the stroll through town.
According to the Daily Mail, the couple also were seen “canoodling” in a pool at Villa D’Este, a luxurious resort which Bouchard has tagged on Instagram.
Who is Ian Hathaway?
Hathaway is an economist by trade and began working for the OpenAI Fund in 2021. He was handed the reins in 2024, when CEO Sam Altman stepped down.
According to its website, the $175-million US OpenAI Fund offers investment in AI startups in areas such as healthcare, law, education and energy and infrastructure and more.
OpenAI is best known for developing ChatGPT, the groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence tool.
Bouchard, who retired from professional tennis in 2025 following the Canadian Open, also has shared several photos and videos on Instagram Stories from her Italian trip — though Hathaway doesn’t make any appearances in the posts.
What were the Taylor Fritz rumours?
Rumours had recently surfaced on social media that Bouchard was dating U.S. tennis Taylor Fritz, but these should be put to rest with the recent photos emerging.
Rennae Stubbs, who worked alongside Bouchard at Wimbledon, also did her best to snuff off the Fritz talk.
“Let me correct myself and you! News to me considering i met her actual BOYFRIEND last week,” Stubbs replied to one of the posts on X earlier this week.
Genie previously had dated Jack Brinkley-Cook — the son of American model and actress Christie Brinkley — in 2024 and was in a relationship with NFL quarterback Mason Rudolph until their split in 2022.
How was Bouchard’s Wimbledon performance?
Bouchard had drawn rave reviews on social media from fans for her work — and her outfits — during the tournament at the world-famous All England Lawn Tennis Club.
The 32-year-old Canadian stopped a few hearts in an eyelet, cap-sleeved, collared mini-dress with a plunging neckline — but not too plunging so as not to distract viewers.
Too late, though, as one X user commented: “Genie Bouchard is a stunner! Girl crush incoming!”
Another added: “This Canadian Bouchard is a beauty.”
The next day, Bouchard stuck with white bottoms in pleated wide-leg trousers paired with a Wimbledon-inspired green buttoned-up cardigan, which she showed off from the booth as she called the Elena Rybakina vs. Lois Boisson first-round match.
The social media star, who boasts more than five million fans, also shared photos on Instagram from her Ralph Lauren shoot along with equally attractive former players Andre Agassi, Caroline Wozniacki and James Blake.
