NFL WILD CARD PICKS: It’s time to start believing in the Jaguars

The lines are from Covers.com and the home teams are in CAPs.

Los Angeles Rams -10.5 over CAROLINA

It’s a lot of points, but the Panthers closed out the season by backing into the playoffs with a losing record. The Rams may have already lost once in Carolina this season, but it certainly won’t happen again and getting Davante Adams back is a huge boost.

Green Bay -1 over CHICAGO

There’s plenty going against the Bears in this one. You have a QB making their first playoff start against a more experience pivot and you have a defence that relies heavily on turnovers. Chicago was a bit fortuitous to beat Green Bay the previous time they met and I wouldn’t bet on that happening again.

JACKSONVILLE +1 over Buffalo

The Jaguars have been cooking since their bye week with the addition of Jakobi Meyers kickstarting the passing game. The Jags also have the “nobody believes in us” vibe behind them while everyone is expecting Josh Allen to finally make a run to the Super Bowl with the usual AFC suspects out of the way. But football is a team game and the Bills defence simply isn’t strong enough to get things done.

PHILADELPHIA -4.5 over San Francisco

The Eagles certainly have had their struggles this season, especially on offence. But what matters here is that the 49ers defence simply can’t get a stop to save itself. On the other side, the Eagles defence still packs a punch and should matchup well with Christian McCaffrey and Co.

Los Angeles Chargers +3.5 over NEW ENGLAND

Another case of a playoff veteran going up against a QB making his first playoff start – even if the youngster happens to be a Top 2 MVP candidate. The Pats will finally be put to a real test after coasting through most of the season against a cakewalk of a schedule.

PITTSBURGH +3 over Houston

Two massive trends in the Steelers favour: They’ve won 23 consecutive home games on Monday night and Mike Tomlin has a great record as an underdog at home. The Texans defence is a fierce unit, but the offence’s efficiency has taken a dive over the past few weeks.

Last week: 5–11-0
