Jim Schwartz throws away a win – literally

We’ve heard players not knowing the rules of the game. We’ve seen coaches not know how to properly handle the clock towards the end of the half or end of the game. But I don’t think I’ve seen a coach not know the rules of the game and cost his team the game because of it.

For those who didn’t get the day off to watch the Thanksgiving games, Jim Schwartz threw a challenge flag on a scoring play, resulting in not only seeing the Texans touchdown stand – when it shouldn’t have – but also a 15-yard penalty on the kickoff.

I can’t say how much I love this rule. It penalizes stupidity! If Schwartz had simply waited for the refs to do their job and review the Justin Forsett’s TD like they would any other scoring play, the Lions would have still had the Texans at midfield.

Really, it’s totally deserved of what this disappointing Detroit Lions season has become. I’m guessing that Schwartz is going to bone up on the rule book now.

The home teams are in CAPS and the lines are from 5Dimes.

CINCINNATI -9.5 over Oakland

The Raiders playing an early game? I don’t like it. In fact, I’d have a tough time picking the Raiders with this line if they were playing Oakland.

Pittsburgh (pick) over CLEVELAND

Charlie Batch vs. Brandon Weeden! What a marquee matchup! The fact here is that the Steelers defence will smother the Browns offence.

INDIANAPOLIS -3 over Buffalo

The Colts play much better at home, at if you can’t see a Thanksgiving Chuckstrong boost, well I don’t know what to tell you.

Denver -11.5 over KANSAS CITY

Brady Quinn is back for the Chiefs. I’m not sure if you file that as good news or bad news.

CHICAGO (NL) over Minnesota

I don’t think that the Niners exposed the Bears defence at all, that was just a tough game for the Bears facing a QB in his first start. Regardless of the line, I’d take Chicago.

Atlanta (pick) over TAMPA BAY

The Bucs’ hot run is about to come to an end.

MIAMI +2.5 over Seattle

This has to be the longest flight possible for any team in the NFL, excluding teams flying to London. Playing an early game is not going to sit well with the Seahawks.

Baltimore (pick) over SAN DIEGO

The Ravens on the road is a dicey proposition, but I’d rather back Joe Flacco than Philip Rivers at this point.

San Francisco -2.5 over NEW ORLEANS

I really like Colin Kaepernick and it would be justifiable to start him in both fantasy and reality this week.

St. Louis +1 over ARIZONA

The Cardinals actually believe in a sixth-round rookie more than John Skelton. I believe more in a solid Rams team than the Cardinals.

Green Bay +2.5 over NEW YORK GIANTS

This is one of the few teams that you’ll be getting points taking the Packers, enjoy it.

Carolina -2.5 over PHILADELPHIA

The Andy Reid era is coming to a crashing end. Seeing a 2-7 team is favoured in your home stadium on a Monday night is just plain rough.

This week: 2-0-1
Last week: 9-5
This season: 78-80-6
