As the Toronto Blue Jays’ hopes of another magical MLB playoff run seemingly die a slow death, one young fan couldn’t help but express his frustrations over how the 2026 season has spiralled for the team.
After the Jays lost Wednesday night’s game against the visiting Rays — the team’s fourth loss in a row and seventh in eight games — the boy was approached for this thoughts on the team by an interviewer for Fans First Jays on Instagram.
The resulting rant quickly went viral on social media.
“I cannot believe how f****** s***** this team is,” the boy began his rant. “I don’t understand how you can go from a World Series team of that calibre to a bunch of sorry-ass bums.
“Like, I don’t think you can name one person in the lineup who’s a consistently good hitter.”
The young fan, who was wearing a Blue Jays hat and red Canada baseball jersey, then tore into the team’s pitching, targeting one player in particular.
“On the other side, you have (reliever Jeff) Hoffman blowing another game. I don’t even understand why this guy is still pitching.”
The interviewer then said there’s a chance that Hoffman will be on the block as the Aug. 3 MLB trade deadline draws near.

The kid chimed in with some ideas of which Jays should be shipped out of town.
“He needs to go. (Daulton) Varsho needs to go. (Kevin) Gausman needs to go. I just think that there’s no hope for these guys anymore.”
The interviewer responded that it felt like the team is “back to 2024” — when Toronto finished last in the AL East.
While the young fan agreed, he pointed out one big difference between the 2024 and 2026 versions of the team.
“The thing about 2024 was Vlad (Guerrero Jr.) was like an actually legitimate star and now that he’s actually making 500 kazillion dollars, he just like forgot how to play baseball,” the unidentified boy said, before laying it on with a harsh insult. “I know five-year-olds who can hit better than Vladimir Guerrero Jr.”
The video clip quickly blew up on social media, racking up more than 60,000 likes and 2,600 comments in a day.

Many commenters were quick to joke that the boy had yet to experience the true pain of Toronto sports fandom.
“He is still young, he hasn’t lived long enough to understand the depths of darkness Toronto teams can provide,” one user wrote. “He needs to take a breath and remember, it can always be worse.”
“A lot of you never would have survived the teams in the 2000s, y’all would be having a meltdown,” another person commented.
“I would like to hear his take on the Toronto Maple Leafs,” a third user joked.
Many others agreed with the kid’s opinion on the team — including Toronto-born actor Stephen Amell.
“This video is — unbelievably — the highlight of the Blue Jays season thus far,” Amell commented on the post.
“Broadcast this in the locker room on blast before every game maybe they’ll get motivated,” another user wrote.
However, there were a few fans who expressed that they still have faith in the team.
“This type of media is genuinely NOT HELPING!” one user commented.
“I personally am not about to switch up on the guys like that,” another wrote. “I understand why the team is in a slump after that heartbreaker last year.”
The Jays did save some face on Thursday, ending their losing streak with a 3-1 win over Tampa. However, next up is a Friday night matchup in Boston against the red-hot Red Sox, who recently rang up a 15-game winning streak and have lost just two games in July.
