A Toronto Blue Jays farm club is taking the old expression ‘if you can’t beat them, join them” to a whole new level.
The organization’s single-A affiliate in Dunedin has unveiled a themed jersey that aims to “honour” the fact that it had to contend with two dozen weather-related delays during the 2025 season.
The team on Thursday revealed its “Rain Delay” jersey, a uniform that features a weather map of Dunedin with a heavy storm rolling through the area. They plan to wear it during a game next month.
“In 2025, the Dunedin Blue Jays endured 24 weather delays, 6 cancellations, and 10 postponements,” the team posted on its social media feeds. “If you can’t beat the weather, wear it.
“Introducing the ‘Rain Delay Jerseys,’ honouring the chaos of the Florida State League, debuting on July 18.”
The jerseys were an instant hit with fans online, many of whom were clamouring for the chance to get their own shirt.
“Please tell me these will be for sale,” one user replied.
“This might be the first jersey I ever buy,” another wrote.
“How does one acquire such aura?” a third user asked.

After seeing the demand skyrocket almost immediately, the team once again took to social media to assure fans that they’ll have a chance to rock the uniforms themselves.
“You’ve been asking … and the answer is YES! These jerseys will be auctioned off online after the game,” the team posted on X.
It is unclear what the starting prices of the auction will be set at, but we’re sure that there will be plenty of demand based on the initial response.
Some fans already, however, are worried they won’t be able to score one of these unique items.
“We’re gonna need WAY more than that. Put ’em up for sale on the website,” one user demanded.
The game on July 18 is against the Clearwater Threshers, the Florida State League affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Fans can only hope that their tribute to Mother Nature can keep rain off the radar for the special night.
