It appears that Alexander Ovechkin was a busy guy during his summer vacation — and quite the bad boy behind the wheel, as well.
Reports out of Russia suggest that the Washington Capitals superstar scorer racked up 33 traffic fines during his time spent in his home country over the past few months.
According to Mash on Sport, the violations — which include speeding and parking tickets — were listed on his Aurus Arsenal minivan, which bears the license plate 008, Ovie’s number with the Caps.
The amount of Ovechkin’s fine reportedly total 82,000 rubles, which amounts to around $1,350 CAD. The 33 fines — of which the NHL star has paid all but one — include citations for speeding, driving on toll roads, failing to pay parking fees and stopping or parking in the wrong place.

But while many are now questioning if the NHL’s career scoring leader’s abilities behind the wheel, many others are asking about his rather odd-looking ride.
“What in the world is he driving,” one user asked on X.
“His van reminds me of a really cool hearse,” another quipped.
The Aurus Arsenal actually is a luxury minivan made by Russian automaker Aurus Motors which can be equipped with heavy armor, which typically are built for Russian government officials and state motorcades.
The retail price of the minivan is a staggering 50 million rubles, which equals roughly $825,000 CAD.
Ovechkin is slated to be back in Washington when the team’s training camp opens next month.
Earlier this summer, he signed a new one-year contract to return to the Caps and hopefully extend his record of 929 career regular-season goals.
Last season at 40 years old, Ovechkin played all 82 games for the first time since 2017-18 and scored 32 goals while adding 32 assists.
He’ll be hoping to help guide the Capitals back to the playoffs after finishing three points short of the Philadelphia Flyers for the final spot in the Eastern Conference this past spring.
