FANTASY FOOTBALL: Jalen Hurts headlines our list of top QBs to draft

The days of potentially waiting for a good QB to fall to the late rounds are over. With the elite pivots really separating themselves from the pack, it can be wise to target one of the top-tier tossers this season.

1. Jalen Hurts, PHI

3701 passing yards, 22 passing TDs, 6 INTs, 760 rushing yards, 13 TDs, 388 points.

His average of 25.9 points per game last year was the fourth-highest in the past 10 years and he barely played in fourth quarters.

2. Patrick Mahomes, KC

5250 passing yards, 41 passing TDs, 12 INTs, 358 rushing yards, 4 TDs, 428.9 points.

Last year’s MVP has thrown for at least 4,700 yards and 37 TDs in four of his five seasons as a starting QB.

3. Josh Allen, BUF

4283 passing yards, 35 passing TDs, 14 INTs, 762 rushing yards, 7 TDs, 419.5 points.

Finished QB2 last year after two straight years as the top dog and hasn’t missed a game since 2018.

4. Lamar Jackson, BAL

2242 passing yards, 17 passing TDs, 7 INTs, 764 rushing yards, 3 TDs, 247 points.

Has missed 10 games over the past two years, but a new offensive coordinator should spark some life into Ravens passing game.

5. Justin Fields, CHI

2242 passing yards, 17 passing TDs, 11 INTs, 1143 rushing yards, 8 TDs, 310.9 points.

Had the second-best rushing season for a QB ever, but only threw for 190+ yards twice.

6. Joe Burrow, CIN

4475 passing yards, 35 passing TDs, 12 INTs, 257 rushing yards, 5 TDs, 368.7 points.

Dealing with a training camp calf injury, but doesn’t need to use his legs to put up huge fantasy numbers.

7. Justin Herbert, LAC

4739 passing yards, 25 passing TDs, 10 INTs, 147 rushing yards, 296.2 points.

Played most of 2022 with a rib injury and saw his TD numbers drop, but an OC change should help greatly.

8. Trevor Lawrence, JAX

4113 passing yards, 25 passing TDs, 8 INTs, 291 rushing yards, 5 TDs, 321.6 points.

Having a legitimate head coach did wonders for Lawrence, turning the sophomore into a top-10 QB.

9. Deshaun Watson, CLE

1102 passing yards, 7 passing TDs, 5 INTs, 175 rushing yards, 1 TD, 90.5 points.

Watson was awful after returning from his suspension for sexual misconduct, but there’s optimism he can become a top-10 QB again.

10. Tua Tagovailoa, MIA

3548 passing yards, 25 passing TDs, 8 INTs, 70 rushing yards, 240.9 points.

After multiple concussions last year, health is the biggest question mark the Dolphins rising star.

11. Daniel Jones, NYG

3205 passing yards, 15 passing TDs, 5 INTs, 708 rushing yards, 7 TDs, 300 points.

Used his legs to run to a top-10 finish among QBs while also greatly cutting down on turnovers.

12. Dak Prescott, DAL

2860 passing yards, 23 passing TDs, 15 INTs, 182 rushing yards, 1 TD, 215.6 points.

Injuries and turnovers took a big bite out of his production, but the ceiling for the Cowboys star remains very high.

13. Anthony Richardson, IND

2023 rookie

While we don’t expect Hurts-level production right away from the rookie, coach Shane Steichen knows how to utilize a big QB.

14. Geno Smith, SEA

4282 passing yards, 30 passing TDs, 11 INTs, 366 rushing yards, 1 TD, 322.8 points.

The journeyman won comeback player of the year while setting the Seahawks franchise record for passing yards.

15. Kirk Cousins, MIN

4547 passing yards, 29 passing TDs, 14 INTs, 97 rushing yards, 2 TDs, 311.5 points.

Fell just one TD short of becoming the sixth player in history with three straight seasons of 4000+ yards and 30+ TDs.

16. Aaron Rodgers, NYJ

3695 passing yards, 26 passing TDs, 12 INTs, 94 rushing yards, 1 TD, 259.2 points.

After two straight MVPs, Rodgers had a rough final season in Green Bay, throwing nearly as many INTs as he had in the previous three years combined.

17. Jared Goff, DET

4438 passing yards, 29 passing TDs, 7 INTs, 73 rushing yards, 298.8 points.

Had the best TD-INT ratio of his career while also posting his best YPA average (7.6) since his stellar 2018 season.

18. Russell Wilson, DEN

3524 passing yards, 16 passing TDs, 11 INTs, 277 rushing yards, 3 TDs, 240.2 points.

Much of his first season in Denver was an absolute disaster but finished strong, ranking as QB6 from Weeks 14-18.

19. Derek Carr, NO

3522 passing yards, 24 passing TDs, 14 INTs, 102 rushing yards, 233 points.

The longtime Raider gets a fresh start in New Orleans, but is coming off his worst season since 2017.

20. Jordan Love, GB

195 passing yards, 1 passing TD, -1 rushing yard, 11.7 points.

After two years behind Rodgers, Love gets his chance to lead the Packers but is a very boom/bust fantasy option.

21. Kenny Pickett, PIT

2404 passing yards, 7 passing TDs, 9 INTs, 237 rushing yards, 3 TDs, 160.8 points.

While the Steelers finished the season on a hot streak, Pickett will need to step up big time to be relevant in fantasy,

22. Matthew Stafford, LAR

2087 passing yards, 10 passing TDs, 8 INTs, 9 rushing yards, 1 TD, 122.3 points.

Talk about a Super Bowl hangover: Stafford threw just 10 TDs in nine games before going on IR with a neck injury.

23. Brock Purdy, SF

1374 passing yards, 13 passing TDs, 4 INTs, 13 rushing yards, 1 TD, 110.2 points.

Mr. Irrelevant threw multiple TDs in six straight games, joining Herbert as the only rookies to ever do so.

24. Sam Howell, WAS

169 passing yards, 1 passing TD, 1 INT, 35 rushing yards, 1 TD, 19.2 points.

We aren’t expecting much passing-wise, but has some sleeper potential thanks to his mobility.

25. Kyler Murray, ARI

2368 passing yards, 14 passing TDs, 7 INTs, 418 rushing yards, 3 TDs, 211.5 points.

He’s still recovering from a late-season torn ACL, but could be a late-round steal if/when he plays.

26. Bryce Young, CAR

2023 rookie

This year’s first-overall pick doesn’t have a lot of talent around him to work with.

27. Mac Jones, NE

2997 passing yards, 14 passing TDs, 11 INTs, 102 rushing yards, 1 TD, 183 points.

Needs to bounce back from an awful 2022 season, but at least he has a real OC now.

28. Desmond Ridder, ATL

708 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, 64 rushing yards, 42.7 points.

His fantasy value likely lies in how much he’ll run the ball in Atlanta’s rush-heavy offence.

29. Baker Mayfield, TB

2163 passing yards, 10 passing TDs, 8 INT, 89 rushing yards, 1 TD, 133.4 points.

Will be starting for his fourth team in 14 months, but has some solid weapons to work with.

30. Ryan Tannehill, TEN

2536 passing yards, 13 passing TDs, 6 INTs, 98 rushing yards, 2 TDs, 171.2 points.

He’s a serviceable game manager whose time as a starter is surely near its end.
