The wife of Travis Turner, the Virginia football coach who vanished while under investigation in a child pornography probe, has deleted her social media as the police continue their search.
Leslie Caudill Turner, who has been married to the Union High School football coach for 25 years, scrubbed her online presence as further disturbing details emerged in the case.
Travis Turner went missing from his Appalachia home on Nov. 20 just as police were en route to question him as part of the investigation.
Days after his sudden disappearance, police issued 10 warrants for Turner — five counts of child pornography and another five of using a computer to solicit a minor. On Tuesday, police declared him a fugitive.
Leslie often posted updates from her husband’s football team on Facebook but had taken to defending her husband online and denied the allegations against him.
“None of that is true,” Leslie told the Daily Mail last week. “I don’t know anything. I don’t know anything. I’m sorry.”
She also said that Travis is a “good dad and a good husband.”
In an update on Friday, a lawyer for the family revealed that Turner was last seen leaving his home with a gun and entering a heavily wooded area.
“The last known contact the family had with Travis occurred on or about Thursday, Nov. 20, after he left his residence to walk in the woods with a firearm,” Adrian Collins, the family’s attorney, said in a statement obtained by WJLA.
“He is believed to have entered a heavily wooded and mountainous area. At which point, no warrants had been issued for his arrest.”
Family is cooperating with police
Collins added the family had been cooperating with police and launched their own search for him.
“It is the family’s prayer that Travis is safe and will have the opportunity to defend himself in a court of law,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bailey Turner, the 23-year-old son of Travis and Leslie, was spotted at Union High School’s football game on Saturday in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Bailey watched Union defeat Ridgeview High School 21-14 and later told the Daily Mail that the victory was “bittersweet,” given the controversy surrounding his family.
He also noted his family also “appreciated the support” they’ve received.
According to the outlet, dozens of fans swarmed him for photos, hugged him and offered words of support during the game.
