Sid Seixeiro is fully “recharged” and ready to talk about Toronto sports.
The former Breakfast Television host announced on Monday that he’s going back to his roots and starting his own online sports talk program.
Seixeiro previously hosted the popular Tim and Sid show on Sportsnet with Tim Micallef starting in 2011 before leaving to join the CityTV morning show in early 2021.
Seixeiro cohosted the program with Meredith Shaw before they both were let go by Rogers in February 2025.
“Hello, it’s Sid,” he greeted his audience. “Great to see you, great to talk to you.
“It has been a long time, like a year – I haven’t done anything like this for about a year.”
He then detailed how during his time off screen, he considered his options and what he wanted to do going forward. After receiving many suggestions from “smart people” that he respects, Seixeiro said it was a meeting with Sick Media that sparked something for him.
“Hey Sid, you idiot. You need to get back in front of a microphone and talk about Toronto sports – a lot,” he said the people from Sick Media told him.
“I’ve talked Toronto sports for a very long time in my career and thoroughly enjoyed it,” Seixeiro continued. “And I’ve kinda missed it. So. I’m back in the arena.”
“I’m looking forward to this, I’m ready, the batteries are recharged,” he added. “Toronto sports has rarely been this interesting … and I’m looking forward to this.”
How did social media respond?
Micallef was one of the first to congratulate Seixeiro on his return, replying on X: “Welcome back Sidney!”
“Just in-time for an ‘Ice Dance is corrupt as Hell’ rant!!” another user replied, referencing an “iconic moment,” from the Tim and Sid show 13 years ago.
Seixeiro had teased his potential return to the airwaves last week with a brief clip on social media.
“Hey Toronto, did you miss me?” he asked before flashing a mischievous grin to the camera to end the seven-second spot.
Seixeiro’s new show will debut on his YouTube channel, on X and on Facebook on Monday, Feb. 9, at noon ET.
With the Super Bowl happening the night before and the Olympics in full force, he’ll surely have no shortage of topics for his debut.
