Can’t a girl just have a good time?
Apparently not when you’re an Olympic athlete travelling to the Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina.
Dutch speed-skating star Jutta Leerdam is being slammed for so-called “diva” behaviour after taking a private jet to Italy earlier this week.
Leerdam, who is engaged to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, shared several snaps on Instagram from her flight on Sunday with the caption “Off to Milano.”
In the series of pictures, Leerdam is seen partying with friends on the private plane, which was decorated with orange flags featuring the Olympic rings and “Success Jutta” written on them.
The crew snacked on custom-made cupcakes and were served a variety of salads consisting of tuna, steak and shrimp. Several champagne glasses were spotted around the cabin as well.
What are people saying about Leerdam’s private flight?
One person who took exception with Leerdam’s post was famed Dutch soccer player Johan Derksen, who slammed the speed skater for her arrogance.
“(Leerdam) should want it of her own accord. She’s already living like a millionaire, with private jets and everything,” Derksen said, according to the Daily Mail.
“Her behaviour is horrible to me, like that of a diva. If I were her coach, I wouldn’t tolerate that,” Derksen added. “Gradually the whole of the Netherlands is starting to get a bit fed up with her behaviour.”
Derkson harsh criticism was far from the only one. Many users on Instagram commented on Leerdam’s post, bashing her for not travelling with her team.
“Oh Jutta, you don’t understand so little about life yet. A private flight?! What do you mean “team” Holland?” one Instagram user commented.
“Just act normal. Just travel with the team. What an arrogant display this is,” another user replied to the post.
“Private jet and chef? Seems normal for a freaking speed skater. It is actually laughable,” a third user posted.
All about Leerdam
Leerdam doesn’t appear to be too bothered by the criticism. She already has put in several training runs and has posted several times from the Games in Milan.
This is the second Olympics for the native of ‘s-Gravenzande, who won silver in the 1,000 metres at the 2022 Games in Beijing. She will be going for gold in the 500-metre and 1,000-metre races this time around.
She has been romantically involved with Paul since 2023 and the couple got engaged last year.
As for Paul, it’s unclear whether he’ll be in Italy to support his future wife, but commented on her post, writing “Time to shine.”
