Ex-NFLer missing for months as family pleads for help

Sam Beal, a former New York Giants cornerback, has been missing for seven months and his family is searching for answers.

The ex-NFLer’s sister, Essence Zhane, took to social media to ask for help finding Beal, who was last seen on July 12, 2025.

“Tomorrow makes it 7 months since we’ve last heard from or seen my brother. We’ve done everything we could on our end to piece things together and at this point we’re in desperate need of support on all ends,” Zhane posted on Facebook on Monday. “I’m not here to answer a bunch of why’s and how’s I just need this to land in the right direction to gain some form of answers or closure.

“I’m a big sister and I need my brother to know that We Love You and miss you and this has been a heavy feeling for months to carry around.”

Zhane shared contact information for the Kentwood Police Department in Michigan and the Virginia Beach Police Department, encouraging anyone with information to reach out.

Also included was a picture of Beal’s driver’s licence, the missing persons report, and an image of a parking receipt.

Missing persons report

According to the U.S. National Missing and Unidentified Persons System website, Beal has been missing since July 2025 after dropping off his girlfriend at a family member’s home.

The former NFLer then borrowed her car and instead of heading to work as planned, drove to Virginia Beach – a journey of nearly 1,400 km — where he spoke with his girlfriend on the phone the next day. During the conversation, he told her where he was and said that he would return the following day.

“Samuel has not been heard from or seen since the phone call on 07/13/2025. Samuel did not bring anything with him aside from the clothes he was wearing, a pair of slides, and his wallet that contained his banking card and driver’s licence,” the online case report stated. “The girlfriend’s vehicle was recovered in Virginia Beach, VA, by one of her family members.

“The vehicle was found with Samuel’s shoes and socks on the floor of the front passenger seat along with some sand on the floor.”

Beal appeared in nine games over three years for the Giants after being selected in the 2018 NFL supplemental draft.

He played in six games during the 2019 season before opting out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He returned to play three games for the team in 2021 before being waived and hasn’t played since.
