Ex-Michigan coach Sherrone Moore told mistress he was going to make her watch him kill himself

Sherrone Moore, the disgraced former University of Michigan football coach, allegedly told his mistress he was going to make her watch him kill himself and that “my blood is on your hands,” prosecutors said Friday.

Moore, who was fired by the school earlier this week for engaging in an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member, appeared in court via Zoom on Friday after he was officially charged with felony home invasion and a pair of misdemeanors – stalking and breaking-and-entering – according to officials.

The charges stem from Moore allegedly breaking into the home of Paige Shiver – his executive assistant and lover – on Wednesday night, then grabbing butter knives and kitchen scissors before threatening to self-harm.

Shiver, 32, reportedly ended the relationship with Moore on Monday.

Prosecutor Kati Rezmierski told the court that Moore allegedly continued to call and text Shiver even as she attempted to ignore him.

On Wednesday, she reported the affair to the school’s athletic department, leading to his termination and the alleged incident at her home.

According to Rezmierski, the couple had been involved in an “intimate relationship” for several years.

What Moore allegedly said

While describing the alleged events of Wednesday night, the prosecutor told the courts Moore said he was going to kill himself and “make you watch” and that “my blood is on your hands.”

“You ruined my life,” he also allegedly told her.

Moore could face five years in prison if convicted of the top charge of home invasion, according to court docs.

Police audio of the arrest

Multiple reports have described Moore as “suicidal” and police audio obtained by the Post painted a bleak picture.

“Male at the location is attacking her … said he’s been stalking her for months,” a male voice in the recording says in the audio, which also indicated that Moore had threatened to harm himself during the alleged exchange.

Reports said Moore then allegedly fled on foot and was arrested at a nearby church.

“It’s gonna be at the Well Church, 211 Willis Rd. … suicidal … driving a black Chevy Tahoe blacked out,” the Washtenaw County Police dispatcher says a short time later, per the Post.

The call came from Shiver’s address in Ann Arbor, Mich., according to public records, the Post reported.

Ex-Michigan coach was fired ‘with cause’

Moore, a 39-year-old married dad of three and the first Black coach in Michigan history, is reportedly being held on suspicion of assault charges.

He was fired “with cause” by the university.

“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” Michigan announced in a statement on Wednesday. “Following a university investigation, credible evidence was found that coach Moore (allegedly) engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behaviour.”
