Like a meatball down the middle of the plate, Blake Snell regretted this one immediately.
The Los Angeles Dodgers starter took a jab at Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. during a livestream on Twitch this week – and then quickly realized that he messed up.
During his stream, Snell read a comment from his chat that said, “Vladdy is your …,” which Snell did not finish reading.
“He in Cancun,” Snell replied, referencing the Blue Jays star taking a family vacation to Mexico days after the World Series was decided.
“Go pick him up and then come over this way.”
Mid-sentence, Snell realized the mistake he had made and began to walk back the trash talk.
“Don’t clip it,” he implored his viewers. “Come on, let me live my life, please!
“He had a great series.”
Truth be told, there’s probably a few moments involving the Blue Jays from the past month that Snell regrets.
As many users on social media were quick to point out, Snell pitched very poorly in his two World Series starts – both losses to the Jays. Overall, the lefty had a bloated ERA of 9.92 over 13 innings with a record of 0-2.
In Game 1, Snell was tagged for five runs on eight hits, including a fourth-inning home run by Daulton Varsho.
In Game 5, Snell gave up a home run on the first pitch of the game to Davis Schneider and then another one two pitches later to Guerrero Jr. Snell would pitch 6.2 innings, giving up six hits and five runs in the loss.
To Snell’s credit, he played a key role in Game 7, pitching 1.1 shutout innings in the eighth and ninth innings of the deciding game.
Guerrero Jr., on the other hand, did have a great series, just as Snell mentioned. After earning the ALCS MVP award, the Montreal-born first baseman batted .333 during the intense seven-game World Series, with 10 hits and two home runs to go along with several outstanding defensive plays.
