Scary moment as Colorado football fan pinned under fallen goal post after storming the field

What started as a moment of incredible joy nearly turned into a tragedy as a Colorado Buffaloes fan became trapped under a fallen goalpost on Saturday.

Fans of the NCAA football program stormed the field after head coach Deion Sanders’ crew scored an upset win over No. 21-ranked Iowa State. But in a shocking moment caught on video, a male fan wearing a jersey is struck by the falling goal-posts at Folsom Field and briefly pinned under the heavy piece of equipment.

The fan lies on the ground in the end zone with his right arm pinned against his body, unable to lift the post off of him as he asks the person recording the incident for help. As many others run by, a person finally stops to help, lifting the goalpost enough for the male to escape to safety.

The fan appears to be OK and gets to his feet as the clip ends.

In another incident during the post-game chaos, a fan attempts to steal the helmet of Iowa State’s Chase Sowell.

In the video, the Cyclones wide receiver wrestles his helmet from a fan, who was hanging onto it while falling to the ground. Sowell eventually rips it free after stepping over the fan before held back by team staff members attempting to de-escalate the situation.

In the post-game news conference, Sanders commented on his school’s fans storming the field.

“Is it a fine?” Sanders asked after the 24-17 win. “Come on, man. That ain’t right … I want to see the kids rush the field. I absolutely love it.”

Colorado received a $25,000 US fine last season after the crowd rushed the field during an overtime win over Baylor.

“I mean, hats off to our security team. They do a good job ushering me in (to the locker-room),” Sanders said . “But I love to see it. I really do.”

Sanders also noted that the school had lowered the goalpost so that it didn’t go home as a souvenir.
