The Seattle Kraken won’t be sneaking up on teams in the dark this coming season.
The NHL club revealed its alternate uniforms on Thursday and fans lit up on social media over a unique feature the new threads boast: They glow in the dark.
The team released a video and several photos of the jersey, with captain Jordan Eberle modelling the look in both standard lighting and in the dark.
The Kraken paid tribute to their name with a nod to the bioluminescence of some deep-sea creatures.
The team said that the design was “inspired by the haunting beauty of deep Pacific Northwest waters.”
The “stealth-mode crest,” “sonar sleeves” and a Muckleshoot patch — a nod to the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, the Native people who inhabited the Duwamish and Upper Puyallup watersheds of central Puget Sound – all light up on the new kit.
“Emerged from the darkness. Illuminated by bioluminescence. The (Seattle Kraken’s) third jersey awakes,” the team posted on Instagram along with full release video.

Fans went wild for the new look, with some calling it “epic.”
“Um this is the coolest ever??!” another user commented.
“The production value is insane and these are unreal,” a third wrote, noting the high quality of the release video.
One user on Reddit joked that the team simply was preparing in case another blackout occurred at their arena — something that temporarily delayed a game against the Edmonton Oilers last year.
Top goaltender Joey Daccord also seems to be a big fan of the new look and later hinted on his X account that he’ll have a new mask to match the alternates jerseys.
“Who wants to see my new third jersey mask??” he posted late on Thursday, to which the team replied “there’s still more to sea?!”
The team will hit the ice wearing the new alternates for the first time on Nov. 1, when the New York Rangers come to Seattle. The Kraken currently are set to wear them 12 times this coming season.
This isn’t the first time that the Kraken have gone viral this off-season.
While mascot Bouy — a six-foot-tall sea troll with blue hair — and forward John Hayden were out fly fishing and filming a promotional video, they had some unexpected company: A grizzly bear.
The incident took place in Katmai National Park in Alaska on June 25, with the frightening clip being posted on the mascot’s official X account last month.
In the video, Hayden, the mascot, and a camera crew were fly fishing in a river before one member of the squad points out the bear having emerged from the tree line and went into the river.
As the crew wrapped things up to move downstream, the bear began to follow.
After circling to the other side of the group, the bear growls as the mascot and Hayden continue to move away.
The bear then does a quick dash towards them before stopping roughly 10 metres away from Buoy.
“TROLL NARROWLY ESCAPES BEAR ENCOUNTER,” the post is captioned. “No trolls or bears were hurt in the making, always respect wildlife in their natural habitat.”
