Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson either have an incredible sense of humour or they are completely un-self-aware.
The couple — which has an age difference of almost five decades — has filed to trademark the term “Gold Digger,” according to sports business reporter Darren Rovell.
The trademark application is being filed through the NFL coaching icon’s company, TCE Rights Management LLC, which is managed by Hudson.
According to Rovell, the couple intends to “use the mark on jewelry and key chains.”
This latest filing is just one of many that the company has applied for this year.
Among trademarks are terms including “Chapel Bill,” “Trail of Salty Tears,” “No Days Off,” and “The Belichick Way,” the report stated.
The relationship between Belichick and Hudson has been under the microscope since they went public last summer. Since then, Hudson has become increasingly visible and reportedly positioned herself as Belichick’s personal manager.
Belichick, 73, and Hudson, 24, reportedly met on a flight in 2021 and hit it off while discussing philosophy.
The 49-year age gap sparked incredible public interest, which only intensified early this year after an incident during a TV interview went viral.
During an interview with CBS in May, Hudson interrupted interviewer Tony Dokoupil when he asked the NFL icon to talk about how he had met his much-younger flame.
“We’re not talking about this,” Hudson said from her seat off-camera.
“No,” Dokoupil replied as he looked over at Hudson, who responded, “No.”
The question was a follow up to Dokoupil asking the legendary coach how he dealt with the added attention that the relationship has received, especially on social media.
“I’ve never been too worried about what everybody else thinks,” Belichick said. “I just try to do what I feel like is what’s best for me and what’s right.”
Hudson shutting down talk about how they met seemed strange, as it has been well-documented.
The pair met on a flight in 2021 and bonded over a textbook that she had with her, followed by a conversation about philosophy.
On the field, Belichick is set to make his NCAA coaching debut with North Carolina this week when his Tar Heels host the TCU Horned Frogs in Chapel Hill on Monday.
A six-time Super Bowl winner as head coach of the New England Patriots, Belichick hasn’t coached a game since being fired by the NFL team in Jan. 2024.
