Reporter walks back claim Taylor Swift will be at Game 6 of Oilers-Panthers Stanley Cup Final

After turning heads with her appearance at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, fans in Florida had been hoping for an encore from Taylor Swift at Game 6.

But while it initially was reported that the music megastar would be back alongside boyfriend Travis Kelce in a box at Amerant Bank Arena on Tuesday night, the reporter who broke the news slammed the brakes on it.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday, Canadian broadcaster Jackie Redmond said that she had a “good source” tell her that the power couple would be in the building for the pivotal tilt between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers.

“I have a good source claiming that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will be in the house for Game 6,” Redmond said. “Not confirmed but according to a good source.”

However, later in the afternoon she was forced to walk back her statement, joking that she has “downgraded” her source.

“My ‘good source’ has been downgraded to just a ‘source,’” Redmond posted on social media Monday afternoon. “Might have gotten bad info on this.”

Swift and Kelce — who grew up playing hockey in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and remains a big fan of the sport — took in Game 4 from a suite last Thursday and were treated to a thrilling contest. The Oilers were able to rally after going down 3-0 and 4-1, tying the game with 19.5 seconds remaining and then winning it in overtime.

But while it now doesn’t appear the couple will be in attendance, there is set to be one celebrity in the house at Game 6 that Florida fans will be hoping to get a peak of: The Stanley Cup.

As confirmed by the official X account of the NHL’s championship trophy, the Cup will be in the arena at Sunrise on Tuesday night.

“I’ll be in the building tonight,” the account posted Tuesday morning, stirring up anticipation for Panthers fans.

Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday and, if the Oilers can hold off the defending champion Panthers, Game 7 is scheduled for Friday night back in Edmonton.
