The ‘Dream Team’ will live on + NFL Week 5 picks

Hey Michael Vick, just because you want to drop the ‘Dream Team’ moniker for this year’s Philadelphia Heat – err, Eagles – doesn’t mean it’s going to go away. Once a nickname gets started, it sticks – for better or worse. In this case, it’s for the worst.

It’s not our fault that you and your all-star team have failed to live up to your lofty billing. But now, we the public, can tear you guys down for anointing yourselves as the best before the season even started.

This Dream Team label is going to stick to you for the rest of the year. Don’t go out there trying to drop something that was run with from the beginning. Just try to right the ship and prove all your doubters wrong.

All of the home teams are in CAPS and the lines are from 5Dimes.

Kansas City +1 over INDIANAPOLIS
Both teams may have piss-poor records, but they’re both playing hard. Also, I don’t want to be giving points to take Curtis Painter – even if it’s just one.

MINNESOTA -1 over Arizona
The Vikings are traditionally good at home and Kevin Kolb hasn’t exactly been great thus far. Adrian Peterson should win the game for Minnesota.

Philadelphia -1.5 over BUFFALO
Sure, the Eagles lost Trent Cole this week and their line is still shaky, but I think it’s more likely that the wheels start falling off the Bills bandwagon.

HOUSTON -5.5 over Oakland
In case you didn’t hear, Arian Foster is back, baby! As if the Raiders didn’t have enough trouble against the run.

CAROLINA +7 over New Orleans
Meet Cam Newton, King of the Backdoor Cover. This Panthers team is a lot better than the one that got creamed in this matchup last year.

Cincinnati +1 over JACKSONVILLE
Just why exactly are the Jaguars favoured here? The Bengals just beat the previously undefeated Bills and their defence is looking really good.

Tennessee +3 over PITTSBURGH
While we’re all certain that Big Ben will play, James Harrison won’t. The Steelers are just too banged up to back.

Seattle +11 over NEW YORK GIANTS
The Giants just don’t seem to inspire double-digit favourite confidence, even when at home and facing Tarvaris Jackson.

Tampa Bay +1 over SAN FRANCISCO
The Bucs are travelling across the country on a short week. Plus, the Niners are playing some seriously spirited defence, especially against the run.

New York Jets +10.5 over NEW ENGLAND
The Jets won’t be nearly as turn-over prone as they were on Sunday night. I mean they can’t ever be, really? Plus, even Mark Sanchez should be able to pass against the Pats defence.

San Diego -3.5 over DENVER
And the Chargers should be starting to turn it on right… about…

Green Bay -7 over ATLANTA
The Packers crushed the Falcons in Atlanta during the playoffs last year. Since then, the Pack have gotten better and the Falcons have only gotten worse.

DETROIT -5 over Chicago
I am whole-heartedly rooting for the Lions and Packers to go undefeated until they meet on Thanksgiving, Would that not be the greatest Turkey Day matchup in recent memory?

Last week: 7-9
This season: 21-26-1
